Starting the Journey

Day eight of my motorcycle adventure began in Grants, New Mexico. The plan was to ride all the way to Amarillo, Texas, covering a distance of 355 miles. As I geared up in the morning, I noticed the sky looked quite ominous. It was clear that rain was on the horizon. I decided to don my rain gear right from the start, and boy, was that a good call!

Riding in the Rain

The forecast didn't lie; it rained intermittently throughout the day. The temperature hovered in the 60s, which wasn't too bad, but the rain definitely added a layer of complexity to the ride. There were times when the rain came down so hard that I had to slow my speed to just 30 mph to maintain control and safety. Despite the rain, the journey was quite exhilarating. There's something uniquely thrilling about riding through various weather conditions, feeling the elements against you as you push forward.

Scenic Views and Challenges

The route from Grants to Amarillo is filled with stunning landscapes. Even through the rain, I could appreciate the rolling hills, wide-open spaces, and the occasional small town that seemed to pop up out of nowhere. However, the constant need to adjust my speed and be extra cautious made the ride more tiring than usual. But every mile covered felt like a small victory against the unpredictable weather.

Looking Ahead

As I finally rolled into Amarillo, I felt a mix of exhaustion and accomplishment. Riding 355 miles in such conditions isn't a small feat. Tomorrow, I'm off to Shawnee, Oklahoma. I'm hoping for better weather, but this adventure has taught me to be prepared for anything. Rain or shine, the journey continues, and I can't wait to see what the next leg of this trip has in store for me.
