First Day of My Motorcycle Adventure: Portland to Klamath Falls
Setting Off from Portland
Today is the first day of my multi-month motorcycle adventure across the United States and Canada. I started my journey early in the morning from Portland, Oregon, filled with excitement and anticipation. My goal for the day was to reach Klamath Falls, Oregon, covering a distance of approximately 280 miles.
Down I5 to Eugene
My route for the day involved riding down Interstate 5 (I5) to Eugene. This stretch of the trip was around 110 miles and took me about two hours. The weather was perfect for riding, with clear skies and a gentle breeze. Along the way, I enjoyed the scenic views of lush greenery and rolling hills characteristic of the Pacific Northwest.
Scenic Route via Oregon 58
From Eugene, I took Oregon Route 58 towards Highway 97. This part of the journey was particularly breathtaking, with winding roads through dense forests and occasional glimpses of sparkling lakes. The route took me past the stunning scenery near Crater Lake. This leg of the trip was around 120 miles and took me roughly 2.5 hours.
Final Stretch to Klamath Falls
After merging onto Highway 97, I continued south towards Klamath Falls. This final stretch was about 50 miles and took me just over an hour. As I rode into Klamath Falls, I felt a sense of accomplishment for completing the first leg of my adventure. The small town atmosphere and the friendly locals made for a perfect end to an exhilarating day.
Reflections on the First Day
Overall, my first day on the road was a resounding success. I covered approximately 280 miles in around 5.5 hours of riding time. The journey was filled with beautiful landscapes, exciting roads, and a sense of freedom that only a motorcycle trip can offer. I'm looking forward to many more days like this as I continue my adventure through the United States and Canada.
