Day 23: Journey from Morgantown to Riverdale, MD
Traveling the Interstates
Today marked Day 23 of my journey, and I traveled from Morgantown to Riverdale, MD. The majority of my route involved cruising down the interstates. As I get closer to the coast, I've noticed a significant decline in road conditions, which has made driving a bit more challenging.
Weather Woes and Temperature Highs
Since leaving Portland, the temperatures have consistently soared above 90 degrees, and today was no exception. Interestingly, I haven't encountered a single drop of rain since my stop in Amarillo. The constant heat has been both a blessing and a curse; it makes for great travel weather but can be quite exhausting.
A Quick Visit to the National Arboretum
One of the highlights of today's travels was my visit to the National Arboretum in Washington, D.C. It's always a thrill to add another city to my list of visited places, and D.C. did not disappoint. The Arboretum was a beautiful escape, filled with lush greenery and fascinating plant species.
Reconnecting with Old Friends
Staying with an old friend and his wife in Riverdale was a delightful break from the road. My friend and I go way back to the days when our daughters attended the French American International School in Portland. We reminisced about the first time he met my youngest daughter—21 years ago! It's moments like these that make you realize how quickly time flies and how important it is to cherish old friendships.
Next Stop: Pennsylvania
After a day full of travel, memories, and new experiences, it's time to hit the road again. My next destination is Pennsylvania, and I'm looking forward to what lies ahead. Stay tuned for more updates from my journey!
